Other parts of this toolkit describe what the multi-component community intervention is. In this section, we wish to include some information about managing its implementation. This section provides some rationale for why certain things were emphasized during the implementation, as well as common obstacles and possible strategies for overcoming them.
Milestones | What will happen | Timeline |
---|---|---|
Pre-Planning / Tasks | After reviewing the logic model intervention materials, the project coordinator will create a list of strategic implementers to invite to participate in the planning process. Key collaborators include: law enforcement decision makers, prevention leaders, visibility expert and university representative if appropriate. Set up individual meetings with key leaders to outline project, obtain their support and commitment to be part of the planning team | |
Planning Meeting #1 | Project coordinator(s) will convene the first planning team meeting at an agreed upon date with key stakeholders. It is recommended to bring together a small planning group of decision makers that will carry out the evidence-based interventions. The logic model overview presentation (PPT) provides a good introduction to the evidence-based practices being proposed to gain a good understanding of what type of interventions are currently being conducted that can be leveraged and enhanced through the project. The second half of the meeting aims to have the planning team to review and discuss how the overall logic model intervention match up to their local conditions to address alcohol-related problems. Specific tasks will be assigned between meetings and monitored by the coordinator. | |
Planning Meeting #2 | Project coordinator convenes 2nd planning team meeting that may include additional police operational officers and other identified stakeholders that can add value to the action plan component discussion and the implementation team. The focus of the meeting is to review the specific visibility and enforcement components of the work plan and obtain commitment to the specific details of the work plan. Lead persons (point of contact) are selected to facilitate the preparation and implementation of the visibility and enforcement components for implementation. | |
Moving to Implementation Meeting | Project coordinator convenes a meeting of the enforcement and visibility team members to outline preparation requirements for the work plan components and outlines a framework and timeline for intervention implementation with a focus on creating a synergy for high visibility enforcement operations and collecting and sharing enforcement data. | |
Readiness Meeting(s) Ongoing | Project coordinator works closely with the enforcement and visibility component teams to align visibility and enforcement activities for specific operations to maximize the synergistic deterrent effect, the collection and sharing of data and establish a mechanism to troubleshoot any problems that may arise regarding scheduled intervention implementation. | |
Annual Assessment and Intervention Improvement | Project coordinator convenes an annual intervention assessment meeting to review the implementation process, visibility actions and enforcement operations to modify / improve the intervention implementation work plan for the next fiscal year. Aligning the work plan with the budget deliverables in highly recommended. |
